22nd March 2025 – (New York) Jake Moscato, a YouTuber, recently embarked on a 60-day diet consisting solely of red meat, documenting the impact on his body throughout the process. As the carnivore diet trend gains traction, Moscato aimed to explore its effects on his health and fitness.
At the outset of his journey, Moscato expressed optimism about the challenge, but soon recognised that he had underestimated its difficulties. In a nearly ten-minute video posted to his channel, he detailed his struggles, including feelings of anxiety and mild depression, alongside physical discomfort in his stomach.
Initially, Moscato found it challenging to maintain consistency, particularly during a vacation in California where his dietary needs were not easily met. Upon returning to New York, he continued to falter, feeling increasingly disillusioned with the strictness of his regimen. “I was way too strict,” he admitted, initially attempting to adhere to the lion diet, which consists solely of red meat and salt.
To regain focus, he decided to relax his dietary rules, incorporating small amounts of fruit, eggs, and pork while maintaining a predominantly red meat diet. This adjustment proved beneficial; by day 23, he noticed a shift in his mindset, finding himself more receptive to the aromas of red meat.
In the second month, after receiving a diverse selection of meats from Butcher Box, Moscato began to enjoy his meals more and reported improvements in his mood, energy, and focus. Upon completing the challenge, he consulted with a doctor to review his health metrics, which revealed impressive results.
Moscato reported a gain of six pounds in muscle mass and a reduction in body fat from 16% to 14.6%. His body weight decreased from 208 pounds to 202 pounds, and he noted he had become significantly more toned. Furthermore, his testosterone levels increased from 748 to 800, and his insulin levels remained low. Overall, he described his health indicators as “good,” with iron levels significantly elevated.
