What’s New in Extension | Mississippi State University Extension Service

Walk Mississippi and Live Healthy … One Step at a Time

Story by Leah Bowers

Mississippi, let’s get walking!

The Mississippi State University Extension Service invites everyone to join Walk Mississippi and Live Healthy … One Step at a Time, a free six-week virtual exercise and nutrition program.

Participants of all ages will log miles or other physical activities as they aim to “walk” across Mississippi—about 180 miles or 8,000 steps per day. Weekly tips and strategies to improve health and wellness will be provided.

Registration is open for individuals and teams, and the program kicks off at 4-H Day at the State Fair, Oct. 11, at noon on the midway in Jackson.

4-H’ers and other young people can count hours toward the Congressional Award, and all participants will receive nutrition tips, video links, and healthy living resources.

Whether or not you reach the goal, moving more and eating better benefits everyone.

Join Walk Mississippi today and let’s walk together!

Register or learn more HERE, or email walkms@ext.msstate.edu if you have any questions.
