Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is spilling new details about President Donald Trump’s health.
Kennedy joined Katie Miller, the wife of White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, on her podcast to discuss his new dietary guidelines, his views on vaccines and Trump.
“The only people whose opinion really matters to me is God, Cheryl and President Trump,” Kennedy said in comments released late Tuesday. “And in that order.”
In the interview, which also touched on the “Make America Healthy Again” agenda, Miller asked Kennedy about who in the Cabinet has the most “unhinged” eating habits.
“The president,” Kennedy immediately responded to a laugh from Miller. “The interesting thing about the president is that he eats really bad food, which is McDonald’s, and you know candy and Diet Coke.”
“He drinks the Diet Coke at all times,” he continued. “He has the constitution of a deity. I don’t know how he’s alive, but he is.”
Kennedy said that Trump only eats junk food from bigger corporations when he’s traveling, claiming it is “because he trusts it.” He added that the president is eating “really good food” at the White House and at Mar-a-Lago, his Florida club.
“If you travel with him, you get this idea that he’s just pumping himself full of poison all day long, and you don’t know how he’s walking around, much less being the most energetic person, you know, any of us have ever met,” Kennedy said.
He went on to say that Trump still remains in “incredible health” while pointing to an anecdote about Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
“Dr. Oz looked at his medical records and said he’s got the highest testosterone level that he’s ever seen for an individual over 70 years old,” Kennedy said. “I know the president will be happy that I repeat that.”
Trump, 79, has directly addressed questions that have swirled about his health as the oldest to assume the presidency — from touting that he is in “PERFECT HEALTH” to saying he has aced three cognitive examinations.
In the wide-ranging interview with The Wall Street Journal earlier this month, Trump revealed that he is taking more aspirin than his doctors recommend, stopped wearing compression socks for his swollen ankles and said he regrets undergoing advanced imaging due to the increased scrutiny that has come with it.
“In retrospect, it’s too bad I took it because it gave them a little ammunition,” Trump said about his cardiovascular and abdominal scan in October. “I would have been a lot better off if they didn’t, because the fact that I took it said, ‘Oh gee, is something wrong?’ Well, nothing’s wrong.”
During the interview, Trump also said he isn’t interested in exercise outside of golfing.
“I just don’t like it. It’s boring,” Trump said. “To walk on a treadmill or run on a treadmill for hours and hours like some people do, that’s not for me.”
He claimed he has plenty of energy, crediting his stamina to his parents. He denied falling asleep at several White House events, noting that he could function with little sleep.
“Genetics are very important,” he said. “And I have very good genetics.”
