Shreveport takes pride in our amazing eats, we even have a whole week dedicated to Shreveport restaurants (go check out 318 Restaurant Week, it’s awesome). Despite our amazing restaurants, a study has slammed Shreveport easters as unhealthy, and even more insulting unfit.
Oh, to add even more salt to the wound, the study says Shreveport is the most unhealthy among cities in Louisiana.
Shreveport Needs A Healthier Diet
According to the study, Shreveport has the second least healthy food in America.
Thankfully that doesn’t literally mean any food in Shreveport is unhealthy, the researchers mean that according to data the share of obese residents is high, while the number of people not eating fruits and vegetables and even the number of nutritionists per capita is so low it reflects how poorly people are eating in Shreveport.
Shreveport gets a point over Baton Rouge because the study found they had the least adults who were eating enough fruits and vegetables.

Shreveport Is The Most Unhealthy City in Louisiana
The study covered the 182 biggest cities in America which include three from Louisiana, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. Of those three cities Shreveport was ranked as the least healthy, based on our health care, food, fitness, and accessible city parks.

The study ranked each city on those 4 main categories by collecting data on a few key issues for each category. The most important stats in each category are as follows
- Health Care
- Food
- Inadequate Fruit & Vegetable Consumption
- Fitness
- Share of Adults Engaged in Physical Activity
- Green Space
