National Center for School Safety supports MSU Extension in exceeding grant goals as they strive to STOP school violence – Part 2
Learn more about the National Center for School Safety and their resources designed to improve safety outcomes.
For the past three years, the Michigan State University Extension’s Michigan 4-H healthy living team has been the recipient of a Bringing Mental Health First Aid to Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs. STOP grant recipients receive technical support from the National Center for School Safety, and with their assistance, the MSU Extension STOP grant team exceeded grant goals and objectives, outlined in Part 1 of this article series.
In addition to supporting grantees, the National Center for School Safety provides a host of digital toolkits, recorded trainings, and fact sheets to help keep youth safe in school. Their expert-driven, evidence-based resources and training opportunities are available on a wide variety of topics, from supporting youth mental health to onboarding school’s behavioral threat assessment team. These resources are not just for STOP grantees, they are available to all – especially school districts and youth serving organizations. These offerings include interactive virtual workshops, large-scale toolkits, live and on-demand webinars, self-paced courses, podcasts, learning communities and videos —all designed to equip school safety personnel with the information, tools and support necessary to improve safety outcomes.
All National Center for School Safety resources are freely accessible to any school or organization.
