My Place MP (MPMP) showcases how your local PAP MP makes your neighbourhood even more liveable — one exciting infrastructure improvement at a time.
COMING SOON for Geylang Serai residents: Sporting facilities that will help older Singaporeans stay healthy, and younger Singaporeans fulfil their dreams of becoming the next Fandi Ahmad or Loh Kuan Yew!
A Sport-in-Precinct (SIP) facility is opening in the heart of Eunos Crescent by 2026. It will come complete with a new futsal court and badminton court. The SIP facility will expand, and add domed roofs, to the community basketball courts as well.
“It’s a huge space!” said neighbourhood MP Fahmi Aliman (Marine Parade GRC) when Petir sat down with him on the site of the upcoming Sports-In-Precinct facility.
“We’re going to make these new courts where people can play more than basketball. Other sports and games as well,” he continued.
The new space will be a more comfortable space for residents and local activities.
“People keep organising community events over here; they keep having to build tentages and set up other temporary event structures. That’s why one of the key additions I wanted for the Eunos Crescent SIP was to improve these basketball courts permanently.” said MP Fahmi.
MP Fahmi is also keen on how these future facilities will look — they pay tribute to Geylang Serai’s rich kampong heritage.
“As you can see, the design itself resembles an attap house. There’s a kampong feel,” he said. “The colour also blends well with the neighbourhood. So it will also be a new, fresh look.”
The SIP will also have equipment like memory boards and walking machines for seniors as well as people with disabilities. It is also easily accessible from the nearby Eunos MRT. The intention is for it to be an inclusive community hub.
The expanded, all-inclusive SIP comes from MP Fahmi’s long-time advocacy for healthy living. He workshopped several rounds of designs and budgets, then showed the plan to Geylang Serai residents.
Construction only started after MP Fahmi got their feedback and buy-in — and accordingly made changes (like keeping the space quiet for residents living nearby).
“2022, 2023 we started all the planning. 2024, we got the budget approval. This year we’ll start building,” he said.
“My hope for Geylang Serai is that everybody will be healthy,” said MP Fahmi. “And it’s not just about when you’re old that you start taking care of your health.”
“When you are young, you can eat well, sleep well and exercise. So that you can be fitter when you are older. You can age gracefully.”
This is a lesson MP Fahmi learnt from his decades in the army, which included peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan for the United Nations, and aid work in Aceh after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.
It is also from his own painful experience.
“My parents passed away at a young age,” he shared. “My father at 57, my mum at 62. That’s why I wanted to create this health awareness for the community.”
Refreshing Geylang Serai
Accordingly, this Eunos Crescent SIP is one more approach to promoting a healthy lifestyle for Geylang Serai residents, alongside fitness corners and playgrounds in Eunos Court nd Lorong 40 Geylang Park.
Geylang Serai estate is also being refreshed with new amenities overall.

Energy-saving solar panels have been installed across 36 blocks. Once fully operational, these are enough to power 840 4-room flats for a whole year!
High sheltered linkways are also coming to Eunos Crescent by end-2025. And there is now a 24-hour Prime supermarket to Block 37 — perfect for the BTO residents living nearby
“The future is bright for Geylang Serai,” said MP Fahmi. “The Government is supporting the precinct’s development, and I hope that residents will have full benefit from it.”
“Make full use of the infrastructure that we’ve built, and join us for our events too!” he added. “Then we can live together in a very happy and vibrant community.”
