AS WE’RE GOING TO MORE SUNSHINE. THAT’S A GULF COAST WEATHER. >> WELL, THE 4TH OF JULY TYPICALLY MEANS LOTS OF FOOD AND COOKOUTS DESERTS AND ALCOHOL. AND IF YOU’RE ON A DIET, YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER A CHEAT DAY IN ORDER TO ADULTS. SO WHY ARE ENJOYING? THERE ARE STILL SOME WAYS THAT WE CAN GET OUR NUTRITION IN. AND WE ARE JOINED BY NUTRITIONISTS, GISELLE OF THE VA IN THE STUDIO WITH MORE ON THAT. GOOD MORNING. GOOD MORNING. I WAS LOVING YOU. COME IN, ESPECIALLY BEFORE HOLIDAYS BECAUSE YOU GIVE US A TINY BIT OF PERMISSION. YES, ABSOLUTELY. YOU KNOW, FOOD IS NEVER ABOUT NOT PERMISSION. RICE AND WE SHOULD ENJOY FOOD, ESPECIALLY ON A HOLIDAY SO IT’S ALL ABOUT INDULGING BUT STILL BEING MINDFUL WHAT OUR BODIES NEED IS MISSION THIS YEAR FOR THE GIANT IS ON A FRIDAY. SO I FEEL LIKE A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE >> PARTYING ALL WEEK, RIGHT. SO LET’S FOCUS ON ENJOYING THE HAMBURGERS AND HOT DOGS IN ALL THOSE AMERICAN CLASSIC. SURE. BUT WHERE CAN WE ADD SOME NUTRITION? OK? SO MAYBE IT’S I LOVE THIS PHOTO BECAUSE IT’S CORN ON THE COB, RIGHT? RICH, IN VITAMIN C AND FIBER OR MAYBE ONE MORE, YOU KNOW, PASSING OUT THE APPETIZERS. MAYBE SOME VEGGIES WITH SOME DIP OR CHIPS WITH SALSA. SALSA COUNTS, TOO. RIGHT? SO WHERE CAN WE ADD IN SOME NUTRITION IS REALLY, REALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IF WE’RE PARTYING FOR 3 DAYS, WE’RE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO FEEL SO GREAT BY TH END OF IT, RIGHT? WE’RE NOT ALSO ADDING IN SOME GOOD NUTRITION AND IT’S GOING TO BE RAINY. SO YOU MIGHT BE IN SIGHT DODGING PERHAPS A LITTLE MORE THAN WE NORMALLY WOULD WRITE. I KNOW WITH OUR HEAT, IT IS IMPORTANT TO STAY HYDRATED AS WELL. AND THERE ARE FOODS THAT YOU RECOMMEND THAT WE INCORPORATE. ABSOLUTELY. SO WITH THIS HEAT AND A OF PEOPLE ARE DRINKING ALCOHOL, TOO. WE TEND TO DEHYDRATE. SO REALLY IMPORTANT TO FOCUS ON NOT ONLY CONSUMING WATER IN BETWEEN THOSE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES, BUT ALSO HYDRATING FOODS. SURE, LIKE I LOVE WATERMELON. IT’S VERY AMERICANA SPECIALLY FOR 4TH OF LY AND IT’S 92% WATER OR LIKE I WAS JUST MENTIONING THAT THAT THOSE VEGGIES AND DIP CUCUMBERS 96% WIRE AND STARTING OFF YOUR DAY, MAYBE YOU CAN HAVE YOUR COFFEE IN THE MORNING ENDING SOME MILK IN THERE BECAUSE NO CAN ACTUALLY HAS ELECTROLYTES. AND ALSO HAS PROTEIN AND CARBS WOULD ACTUALLY SLOWS DOWN GASTRIC EMPTYING, SO HELPS TO MAINTAIN HYDRATION LONGER, MAKING SURE OUR KIDS TOO, OUR KIDS. MAYBE WE’RE MAKING POPSICLES WITH THEM THE DAY BEFORE OR WE’RE GIVING THEM MAYBE SOME CHOCOLATE MILK DURING THE DAY. AGAIN, MAINTAINING THAT HYDRATION BECAUSE WE’RE NOT ONLY, YOU KNOW, DRINKING MORE, BUT WE’RE OUT IN THE HEAT, BUT DOING A LOT OF MOVEMENT. A LOT OF TIMES, YOU KNOW, MATER WERE ON THE POOR AND THE BEACH OR HOPEFULLY OUR WEATHER IS GOING TO BE OKAY LIVING THINGS LIKE THAT ARE OF SO REALLY IMPORTANT TO FOCUS ON THAT HYDRATION THAT WAY AS WELL. WHEN WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SOME OF THE STAPLES WE MENTIONED EARLIER, HOT DOGS, HAMBURGERS. ARE THERE CERTAIN? THE KINDS THAT YOU SHOULD GET THE 100% BEEF, THE 100% CHICKEN. YOU KNOW, THERE’S ALL THOSE DIFFERENT CHOICES, YOU KNOW. SO I ALWAYS SAY LIKE TASTE MATTERS MOST BECAUSE FOOD IS ABOUT ENJOYMENT. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE TRYING TO BE A LITTLE MORE CAUTIOUS, YOU KNOW, BEEF, THERE IS LEAN BEEF THAT YOU CAN RISE FROM ANYWHERE FROM 90% 97%. RIGHT. BUT SOME PEOPLE DON’T PREFER THE THAT FLAVOR THEY RIGHT OR A LITTLE BIT FATTIER, WHICH IS TOTALLY OKAY. BUT THEN YOU MAY BE WE’RE ADDING SOME LETTUCE AND TOMATO. IT. I WAS. I KNEW TRICIA WRIGHT HOT DOGS TO MAYBE WE WON ALL BEFORE WE LIKE THE STANDARD HAVE HOT DOG THAT’S OK, MAYBE ADDING SOME ONIONS AND RELISH RACE OR BOOSTING THE NUTRITION THAT WAY. AND IT’S 4TH OF JULYS ONE DAY. SO RIGHT, OKAY. SOME PEOPLE MAY OPT TO CHOOSE NOT TO DO THE BREAD ANTHEN HAVING MORE STARCHY VEGGIES OR MAYBE LIKE A POTATO SALAD. INSTEAD. THAT’S OKAY, TOO. SO YOU HAVE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT’S GOING TO MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD. BUT IF WE JUST ATE THE HAMBURGERS AND HOT DOGS AND CHIPS FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS, WE’RE PROBABLY NOT GOING TO FEEL GREAT, RIGHT? REALIZE IT WAS EXACTA. AND THAT’S THE THING IS THAT OUR BODIES ARE REALLY INTELLIGENT VESSEL. AND IT’S GOING TO TELL YOU, I CAN KIND OF EXHAUSTED. I NEED A BOOST IN NUTRITION HERE AND THERE. SO I LOOK AT IS YOUR 4TH OF JULY MENU. THINK ABOUT WE’RE GOING TO HAVE THE CLASSICS. BUT ELSE WHAT ELSE CAN WE ADD IN AND GET YOUR KIDS INVOLVED?
