It can sometimes be difficult to find ways to stay healthy, so we’ve asked members of our Baylor College of Medicine community to share what they do in their daily lives to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Angela Haskins, assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, shares some of her healthy habits with us.
Question: What health decisions start your day?
Answer: Plan for morning versus evening workout.
Q: What is your go-to healthy breakfast?
A: [An] Eggwhich with turkey sausage!
Q: What is your favorite type of exercise?
A: Anything Peloton or the walk to my car at the end of the workday.
Q: What activities do you do when you can’t fit in a full workout?
A: Stretch on the living room floor while watching Netflix.
Q: What is your favorite healthful snack?
A: Crudites and hummus!
Q: Do you take vitamins and if so, which ones?
A: Creatine and daily multivitamin.
Q: What do you include in your child’s lunch?
A: My German Shepherd actually eats cleaner than I do… she’s paleo.
Q: How do you make an unhealthy recipe healthy (healthy substitutions)?
A: Using olive oil instead of butter.
Q: What is your nighttime skin regimen?
A: Topical retinoid. Drink tons of water!
Q: What hobbies do you have to help you relax?
A: Yoga.
Q: What is your go-to Houston restaurant for a healthy meal?
A: Sweetgreen.
Q: Do you use an activity tracker or Fitbit and what is your daily step goal?
A: Forget the step goal. I follow an active calorie goal. Broadens the applicability of workouts (like spin and rowing.)
Q: What is your favorite health tip that you live by?
A: Less stress. More fun. 🙂
