A local fitness leader is inviting residents to adopt a healthier lifestyle as part of a Health and Wellness Fair set for Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside Custom Workouts, 2125 S. Broadway, Suite 108.
The free event will be hosted in the front parking lot of the gym, and is designed to provide physical, emotional and nutritional wellness resources in a fun, community-focused environment.
The fair will include free kid haircuts, a kids fitness competition, group fitness classes, a hay bale throwing contest and live music from a DJ.
Marc Gatson, owner of Custom Workouts and the creator of the fair, said the event was born from a long-standing desire to connect people with vital health resources.
“We’ve actually done them before,” said Gatson. “The wellness fair is something that came up because it’s what we do on a daily basis, we want to spread the knowledge and the resources to the community… from nutrition to sports training to training older people … to working with kids, and we work really really well with people on special needs.”
Gatson is introducing a clinical partnership between Custom Workouts and Bloom Ranch, introducing an innovative approach that blends physical training with tailored nutrition.
“We actually have what we call Bloom Bounty Boxes that provide the right type of nutrition for people, based on the results that they need. Some of these results are not just to be healthy but some of them are (based on) clinical results,” Gatson explained. “It’s gonna be very exciting.”
The fair will serve as the public launch of Custom Workouts’ new 24-hour facility access, transitioning from its previous early morning and evening schedule.
In addition to fitness-focused activities, attendees will have access to on-site resources including psychologists, nutritionists, physical therapists and massage therapists.

Gatson emphasized the event’s holistic approach to health, especially the growing importance of mental well-being, citing recent tragic events affecting local youth.
“We just had problems… what happened at St. Joseph’s the other day,” he said, referring to a recent youth suicide. “Fitness and health and wellness, psychologically, there’s a part, a need for that as well.”
Children will have the chance to participate in a kids fitness class at 11 a.m., while adults can join a session at 12 p.m. focused on wellness for those managing conditions like high blood pressure or diabetes.
“We trained a lot of kids every day. This is gonna be kind of a general fitness class educating kids on what they can do on a daily basis,” said Gatson. “The adult class will be more targeted… successful people who have these great jobs where they take care of everybody else but they don’t take care of themselves.”
Vendors will also offer information and demonstrations, and Gatson said there is still limited space for wellness professionals to get involved.
“We do have room for probably three more vendors, but they have to contact me right away,” he said, adding that ideal vendors would offer services related to “sleep therapy, stress reduction, skin care, eyesight and stretch.”
Above all, Gatson said he hopes the event sparks a movement of community-wide health awareness and support.
“We hope that the community gets more involved in health and wellness and we all work together as a network for the community,” he said. “The more healthy we are as a community, the more the community thrives.”
