Government funding to enhance disease prevention efforts

Residents of Nipissing and surrounding areas will benefit from enhanced access to preventative care as Ontario commits more than $300K to their regional Public Health Unit

The Ontario government will spend $304,289 in one-time funding to support public health programs and services through the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit. This funding will enable our local health unit to continue providing healthy living programs and disease-prevention information.

Public Health Units offer information about healthy lifestyles, including sexual health, vaccinations, addictions, and healthy growth and development. Public Health Units also provide many services, including vaccinations, seasonal flu clinics, Healthy Smiles Ontario, sexual health support, help with nicotine addiction, food premises inspection, and the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program.

Services vary depending on location.

“The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit provides key knowledge and takes preventative measures to help our community remain a safe, happy, and healthy place to live,” said MPP Vic Fedeli.

“Our health unit plays a vital role in keeping our community safe and healthy through the many programs and services it delivers,” said Graydon Smith, MPP for Parry Sound–Muskoka.
