GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Draft week events officially kicked off at a school near Lambeau Field on Tuesday morning.
The celebration at Valley View Elementary in Ashwaubenon taught students the importance of nutrition and physical activity. It’s part of “Taste of the Draft.”
“Our mission is to help ensure that students like you succeed through the powerful combination of good nutrition and physical activity, because when you eat well and you move more amazing things can happen,” said Anne Marie Krautheim, CEO of GenYouth.
“As a professional athlete, I know how important good nutrition is for everyone. I wouldn’t be standing here today without good nutrition. My mom used to say she’d rather clothe me than feed me, because I was always in the refrigerator, and so I know how important nutrition is and the most important thing is keeping healthy and happy,” said Rob Davis, former Packers long snapper.
Through proceeds from the Taste of the Draft Gala happening Wednesday, 90 Wisconsin schools will receive new meal equipment and NFL flag in-school kits to expand opportunities for students to be well-nourished and active.
