This Saturday, residents of Hillsborough County have the opportunity to pick up free groceries at the Plant City Community Resource Center, courtesy of the county’s Healthy Living Program and in partnership with Feeding Tampa Bay. According to Hillsborough County’s official announcement, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., individuals can collect items such as fresh produce, meats, canned goods, and staples like beans and rice with no income restrictions applied.
In addition to the grocery giveaway, the community health fair, running until noon at 307 N. Michigan Ave., Plant City, FL 33566, offers more than just food; free health screenings, vaccinations when available and a treasure trove of information about the county’s Health Care Plan and Healthy Living Program will also be accessible, plus there will be activities tailored for children giveaways that enrich the community spirit.
The Healthy Living Program is an initiative aimed at guiding residents towards healthier lifestyles through resources and services available locally, including an exercise room, group sessions, nutritional counseling, educational activities, and health screenings at various Healthy Living Centers across Hillsborough County. County spokespeople also highlighted the program’s free classes tackling subjects such as diabetes, weight loss strategies, public health services, and optimal nutritional choices.
