BLACKPINK’s Lisa is not just a rage among Gen Z – she is known for her singing prowess, but she stays fit and has great lifestyle habits to support her daily regimen. The 28-year-old popular youth icon recently spilled the beans on how she stays in shape.
In a podcast, K-pop star Lisa said she does eat a lot but always follows portion control – and never finishes her food. “Honestly, I do eat a lot, but I eat in small portions. I get full quickly, so I take small bites. I never finish the whole thing,” she said. Lisa said that when she was younger, she had a habit of overeating, which is gone now. “I used to eat way more than usual. Once, I ended up eating an entire chicken and a half. I don’t know how I did that,” she recalled.
How does portion control help you lose weight?
Portion control can help you lose weight in a healthy manner by reducing your overall calorie intake and creating a calorie deficit needed by your body to slim down. According to experts, it also creates and promotes a feeling of mindful eating that prevents overeating.
- By controlling the size of your food servings, you would automatically consume fewer calories, which your body then uses from stored fat, leading to weight loss. A few ways you can do that include:
- Always measure and eat your food, using your plate or bowl as a portion control guide. According to studies, doing so can help promote balanced eating and weight loss among those with obesity or type 2 diabetes.
- The best way to gauge the appropriate portion size without any measuring tools is by simply using your hands. For example, you can take your palm size as a standard for serving protein.
- When eating out, always go for half the portion of food that you eat at home, to avoid unnecessary calories and fats.
- Always begin your meals with a glass of water, which you must have at least 30 minutes before a meal, as a natural way to aid portion control. Filling up on water will make you feel less hungry. Also, experts believe being well-hydrated helps you distinguish between hunger and thirst.
Lisa’s fitness routine
Apart from following portion control in her diet, Lisa is also dedicated to her fitness. While you may think she would be pumping iron in the gym, she follows a surprisingly simple routine – suitable even for those new to fitness.
Lisa adds variety to her workouts by including energetic dance sessions for cardio and opting for outdoor workouts in nature, making her routine accessible from anywhere. She loves doing Pilates at least three times a week. Pilates is known for its ability to enhance overall strength and flexibility while reducing the risk of injury. Although often associated with women, Pilates offers benefits to individuals of all genders, ages, and sizes.
Also, Lisa actively engages in outdoor adventures to get the adrenaline rush her body needs to burn calories. Indulging in water sports, hikes, or a brisk swimming session, Lisa consistently discovers ways to infuse excitement into her workouts.
