Mumtaz reveals one Akshay Kumar health advice that she follows everyday, keeps her fit at 77: ‘He told me not to eat after…’ | Bollywood News

Bollywood celebrities try to live a very disciplined life so they can stay fit and appear healthy when they have to face the camera and a lot of them swear by the ‘no dinner’ rule. Recently, veteran actor Mumtaz revealed that she does not eat any dinner. She shared that Akshay Kumar once suggested to her that she should not eat anything after 5-6 pm and since then, she has been following that rule.

Mumtaz, who is now 77, shared that instead of dinner, she has some fruits in the evening. In a chat with Radio Nasha Official, she spoke about her routine and food intake and shared, “I am very strict about food. I don’t eat much. I don’t eat the wrong thing, lots of exercise, I take care of my face, my hair, I make my own mask. And I am very particular about timings,” she shared.

Mumtaz then gave a breakdown of her daily schedule. “I sleep at about 9-10 pm and I get up at 4-5 in the morning. I do my exercise at 7 am then I drink black tea. Then I take very little breakfast, not very fattening. And that’s it. Then I have lunch. I don’t have dinner. I just take some fruits. I don’t eat dinner,” she shared and added that she got this idea of not eating towards the end of the day from Akshay Kumar. “Akshay Kumar told me, ‘don’t eat after 5-6 pm. So I learnt that from him,” she said.

In an earlier interview, Akshay had explained his no-dinner rule, “Shastron mein likha hai, 6.30 baje ke baad khaana nahi khaana chahiye (Shastras say that we should not eat after 6:30 pm). When you eat late, like at 10 or 11 pm, your body goes to rest, but your gut stays awake trying to digest food. This delays recovery and puts extra strain on your system.” He added that if he feels hungry after that time, he picks soups and salads.

Previously, Vivek Oberoi shared an anecdote where he said that Akshay is strict about his routine and once, when he was at dinner at the star’s house, he went to bed at 9:30 pm while the guests were having dinner. “Akshay is so disciplined that one evening, we were having dinner at his place, and as soon as the clock struck 9:30 pm, he went upstairs. We thought he was just going to the washroom, but he never returned. We kept waiting for him until 11 pm, only for his wife, Twinkle Khanna, to come and tell us, ‘You guys should leave now. He’s already gone to sleep!’ That’s how disciplined he is. Hats off to him,” he shared with ABP News.

Manoj Bajpayee also belongs to the same school of thought as the actor had previously shared that he has not had dinner in 13-14 years. He shared with Curly Tales, “Sometimes, I do take a few bites here and there, but it’s been 13-14 years. I realised my grandfather was always very fit. So I thought let me follow what he used to eat. When I started following that, my weight came under control. I started feeling energetic and healthy. Then, that was the time I decided I will stick with this. Then I started tweaking with it. Sometimes I would fast for 12 hours, then for 14, then I started skipping dinner. Even the doctor said it is good to have an early dinner, otherwise, the food is left in the belly. It got me a little scared. So, I stopped eating my dinner completely. After lunch, the kitchen is non-operational. It only operates when our daughter is back from the hostel.”
