SEATTLE — February is Eating Disorder Awareness Month – a time to shine a spotlight on a health issue that affects far more people than many realize.
An estimated 9% of the U.S. population – or 30 million Americans – will experience an eating disorder during their lifetime, but experts say misconceptions and stigma often prevent early intervention and treatment.
ARC Seattle co-anchor Steve McCarron spoke with Dr. Natalie Goodwin, Regional Clinical Director at the Eating Recovery Center in Bellevue. The two spoke about the issue of eating disorders, the most common myths, warning signs, and what you should do if you suspect someone is struggling with an eating disorder.
